Coaching

How sessions work, in practical detail.

Sessions are 50 minutes by video, usually weekly for a first season. I take notes; you receive a short summary afterwards if you’d like one.

The shape of the work

Intake

A short form, then a free 20-minute call. We figure out together whether coaching is the right fit; if not, I refer you onward.

First season

Six to twelve weeks of weekly sessions. We name what you actually want to be working on, and start there. Plans change; that’s expected.

Between sessions

You can email any time. I read everything; I reply within two business days. For PDA clients, the email channel is often more useful than the calendar.

Taper

Most clients move to biweekly, then monthly, then off. Coaching is a phase. I keep a working referral list for therapy, psychiatry, and assessment.

A word on scope

Coaching isn’t therapy. If you’re navigating active crisis, complex trauma, or anything diagnostic, I’ll help you find the right person — I keep a working list of clinicians in the Pacific Northwest who do this work well.¹
