Neurodivergent Young Adults Support Group

Ages 18-28. The long-running YA group combines social time with learning about our neurotypes and what works for us. We laugh together at every session. It can be a pretty goofy time.

Some examples of what we actually do

Discussion

How do you handle change?

Young adults experience a lot of change, like moving, finishing school, breakups, and starting new relationships. Some of us really don’t like change. How do we cope?

Discussion

Nervous system regulation

With ADHD and autism, we are more likely to experience anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional dysregulation. Understanding how that happens can really help.

Discussion

Executive function

Executive functions are tools we use to start, keep going, and complete tasks. Unfortunately, that can be a wild ride for neurodivergent people.

Activity

Sensing our emotions

Many autistic and ADHD people find it hard to name and discuss emotions. Tuning into body sensations can give us information about how we’re feeling and what to do.

Activity

Mapping sensory likes and dislikes

Experiencing unpleasant sounds, smells, and environments can degrade our well-being and cause stress to build. So, let’s name what’s good and what’s bad.

Activity

Quiz time

An executive function assessment will show that that each of us have some real strengths and some deep challenges. How do we use the highs to support the lows?
